Getting Noticed by Brands
Hard Work Pays Off
Welcome to the Course!
Welcome to Get Noticed, the online course for bloggers both new and experienced! Throughout this course, I hope to teach you a few things about getting more traffic to your blog and getting seen by thousands of new people. With this advice, I want to inspire you to realize that anybody can be a successful blogger. Yes, even you!
This course isn’t going to be a quick fix for an increase of visitors, but will instead show you how you can work towards your goals and build a following from the ground up. It will take a lot of work and dedication, but I know you are ready for it because you’ve taken the first step in joining this course!
I know there have been many times when you’ve probably thought: “nobody is reading my blog!” It can seem disheartening and really strip away your motivation to write posts when you think that nobody cares about what you write. I’m going to show you that people do care and most of the time it’s the lack of reach that is causing your problem.
You’ve probably seen many videos and blog posts regarding promoting your content online and building a following, yet you’ve still ended up here. While those tips may boost your confidence for a short period of time, they don’t help you to create an actual plan of action, which is the key to succeeding in getting noticed.
In this course you will learn different ways to reach an audience and techniques you can use to boost your visibility. We will cover content creation, social media, connecting with PR, guest posting, and more. I want you to be dedicated to climbing this hill with me, because you will only get out of it what you put into it!
I am not an expert. I only know what has worked for me and the two blogs that I built from nothing. I had a background in web design and the technical aspects of creating a website, but blogging and blog promotion was a completely new mountain for me to tackle when I began. I’ve been able to turn those blogs into my occupation and main source of income, and if I can do it, anyone can.
I started blogging back in 2011 as a way to promote products I was hand-creating. Like many of you, I was told that a blog was a necessity for any business as it could draw huge amounts of traffic to your items and boost sales! While all of that sounded GREAT, I was just like you in the beginning… I had no idea how to actually get those potential visitors and customers to my blog.
So, I started doing what we’ve all probably done and spammed my link anywhere and everywhere, hoping to gain some sort of traction. While that may have somewhat worked in the short term, it wasn’t realistic for the long term. For that to actually work, I’d have to dedicate hours every day to promoting my stuff!
As I continued blogging, I discovered that I could be doing so much more with my online space. I decided to transform my blog into a personal place of life, crafts, and of course my handmade ventures, instead of simply using it as a huge advertisement. I found that I actually liked this whole “blogging thing” more than I realized! This time, though, I was going to do it right.
I started using my background and what I knew about computers and web design and applied it to my blog. I pulled out my virtual toolbox and started to show the world (or whoever happened to stop by) that I had some sort of skills in certain areas, and suddenly I noticed an interest from others in what I was doing. They wanted to know what I knew! It was then that I realized that the focus of my blog had been all wrong. I needed to be sharing my knowledge with others and offering helpful posts that benefited them in some way.
Since then, my blog has undergone both major and minor changes, content adjustments, and traffic increases that I could have never imagined when I was starting out.
Want some proof? Here are actual screenshots of my blog stats beginning in 2011, then 2014, and finally 2016:
